RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING "BLACK HISTORY/CULTURAL DIVERSITY MONTH" IN INGHAM COUNTY
RESOLUTION #02-007
WHEREAS, on February 19, 1926, Carter G. Woodson established "Negro History Week" which is now called "Black History Month" in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the month of February is recognized across the United States as "Black History" month to promote a greater awareness of the history and culture of black Americans; and
WHEREAS, the United States is a diverse nation comprised of citizens from various ethnic groups and cultures; and
WHEREAS, it is important to promote a greater awareness of the history and culture of all ethnic groups across our country.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby recognizes the month of February as "Black History/Cultural Diversity Month" in Ingham County.
